A Travellerspoint blog

Almost December, eh?

That's weird. Have some more pictures.

Thanksgiving dinner(/lunch, really) last week. Pasta, pork, chicken in various forms, rice, yams, salad, bread, cupcakes, some cinnamony apple stuff. Rum, wine, beer as well. Just beer for me...at least during that part of the day. My contribution (split with John) was the mini keg and rolls (of which I probably ate about a third over the course of a few hours post-meal).

This bag was a freebie along with a two pack of 7 Up, I figured that made sense to do.

The usual not much to report. The weather is more consistently hanging around 50 now, but it still isn't all that cold yet really (or at least not for me). We finally started up Chinese lessons again tonight, so I was able to get some practice in with a pair of students who'll be serving as my teachers. Very long way to go still. I tried a new kind of dumplings the other day, I think you get a tiny bit more than the normal ones I get but it costs more so I'll probably stick with what I normally get. The highlight of my week has been my students' use of the term "torch" or "torchlight" for flashlight (silly Brits). There was a birthday party for the son of the teacher who has one of those today, though it mostly consisted of eating cake and singing that he didn't want us to do. Amusingly enough, one of the cakes was a vanilla cake with fruit and part of the fruit selection was tomatoes. A bit out of place, but I like tomatoes. Didn't really mind.
